Pink, to make the boys wink!

Image

Soooooo with Valentine’s Day approaching I thought I would share a beautiful ‘pink’ inspired look :) Check out Viktoriia below from Leni’s models, picture by Tony McGee. I used one of my favourite MAC Chromaline’s in magenta as an eye base, with a fuschia Ben Nye shadow over the top. This is what keeps the pigment so bright in the pictures, despite the strong lighting. If you have ever been disappointed in the way colour pigment seems to disappear in beauty shots, then chromalines or paint pots are a great solution. For this particular look, I was inspired use just one colour throughout, so on the lips I used Nars lip liner in funny face (perfect!) with a slick of Sisley’s sheer fuschia Phyto Lip Shine. I used a smidge of the same lippy on the cheeks, applied with MAC short stipple brush #130.

I love pink!

Top tip : My favourite foundation for beauty at the moment is Shu Uemura’s Face Architect Skin Smoothing Foundation. When I posted this pic I got so many comments on Vicktoriia’s porcelain complexion. Shu Uemura have some particularly wonderful pale shades.

The MTV EMA’s Belfast!

On Sunday 6th of November, I flew to Belfast to look after the hair and make up for The Official VIP afterparty at the Europa Hotel! The EMA’s are a HUGE production and it was amazing to be involved again.

MTV wanted to bring a little East London cool to the Europa Hotel this year. My brief was to give our models a sexy Hoxton/Shoreditch look. I took inspiration from hot young things about town such as Alice Dellal, Pixie Geldof, Suki, and Daisy Lowe! Think ‘just got back from another night at The Box’ hair and seriously slept in kohl eyes.

Pre party, I popped to MAC to pick up kit essentials needed for our Hostesses.

The gorgeous ladies!

                         Hard at work!

Salon Systems kindly donated all of the lashes for us to use. It was the first time I had used

de-lashious!

Liz Martin’s brand new lash enhancements and I have to say I’m seriously impressed. My favourites were Enhance, pictured below, for fluttery lashes and Elevation, which has a much denser lash in the middle of the strip for a sexy doe eyes. The strips were firm enough to stay put, yet flexible enough to fit the natural lash line. A personal make up moan of mine is lashes that are incorrectly fitted to the natural lash line. Falsies should always be trimmed to accentuate your models natural eye shape and lash line, one size does not fit all and incorrectly applied lashes can drag the eyes down. Always cover the glue line with liner or shadow after application, the glue

can reflect the camera flash on shoots and can look messy up close in real life.

Applying Elevation Lashes

Coiffing our ladies hair for the party was the lovely Joe McGivern and his team from Blue Hairdressing Belfast. Sleek ponies, and mussed up textured hair complimented the rockin’ outfits pulled together by stylist Katy Taylor. Hair was roughly blown out with plenty of mousse and loosely placed in pin curls, or swept up tightly in sky high tails. Kevin Murphy color bugs were used to add a touch of neon to the tips of pony tails or between layers.

We also had fun looking after several of the performers for the evening!

Behind the Scenes : House of Anubis

Last week I accompanied Nickelodeon stars Anna Williamson and Jamie Rickers to the set of the cult show, House of Anubis!

We were filming a behind the scenes preview for the eagerly awaited second series. I’m sworn to secrecy as far as plots go I’m afraid, but I did manage to take a few sneaky snaps!

Jamie and Anna about to go on set

In the House itself!

In the dorms!

OMG! Anna finds a spare blazer!

Anna has been spending a lot of her time on the Daybreak sofa recently, so her skin loved being kept hydrated with Sisley’s floral spray mist throughout our shoot. Containing cornflower, orange blossom, witch hazel and rose this gorgeous product is a fabulous treat for tierd skin. How did I ever live without this???? I’m not sure! For more info check out Sisley’s website here… http://www.sisley-cosmetics.com

Eau Florale

Jamie was treated to a new skin base while we we up in Liverpool. Jamie’s skin can tend to shine under the bright lights required for shoots, so I decided to try my new Continuous Coverage foundation by Clinique.

It gives a beautifully matte finish to the skin, whilst covering any imperfections. I had a sneaky try of this one myself, as quite frankly I spend my entire day looking after everyone else make up – I don’t have time to keep an eye on myself. I like products that look the same after a 14 hour shoot and I have to say this didn’t budge! I think this one might be disappearing from my kit into my own make up bag hehe! shhhh don’t tell Jamie!

Look out for our competition winners and Jamie & Anna on Nickelodeon from November!

Bugged out!

Ok so those that know me, know I’ve been experimenting with the dip dyeing trend over the summer…more Caroline Flack-esque than anything too out there (my bank manager just wont cooperate with the entire new wardrobe a full on bleach job would require) but I have still yearned for the candyfloss colours my lovely hairdresser Bethany has politely informed me would destroy my already ‘stressed’ barnet.

Over the weekend I had the pleasure of working at Salon International with the Babyliss Team, and whilst there out of the corner of my eye I spied THESE…

Awwww it's so cute!

Kevin Murphy’s Color.bug ! Kevin Says :

In the world of session styling I’m always looking for new ways to change the models hair.  Wild crazy colour became the new hot thing but you cant just colour a models hair just because you feel like it. I wanted full on colour but without the commitment!  I had had my share of moments where I wanted crazy colour hair on a Friday, but come Monday morning I didn’t want my crazy colour anymore.

I want to be able to put it on and just as easily take it off. I thought to myself why cant hair colour be just as easy as applying make-up? I had been experimenting with pigments since the 80’s obsessed with the powdered wigs of the French Revolution. The influence came from those times but I wanted it to be intense and almost fluro as it is the intense flash of colour that makes it modern. COLOR.BUG is wipe on, wipe off colour!  It’s just for fun and just for the one night. With a towel draped around

your shoulders to protect your clothes, I would apply a hair product and then the COLOR.BUG to make it stick. The COLOR.BUG adds body to hair, you can keep this raw texture or add a fine mist of hairspray to lock on the colour.

It really is that simple, you just rub the little bug onto your hair – it even works on darker hair – and ta daaaa candyfloss coloured hair!!!! Obviously I bought all three colours – pink, orange and purple – and now I just can’t wait to use them on myself! ahem, a shoot!

OK, OK, so i ripped it out of the packaging and tried it straight away!
